Robert C. Champie

Robert C. Champie, 91, formerly of Ellensburg, died Sept. 17 at his home in Seattle.

He was born in Thorp and raised and educated in the Ellensburg area. He moved to King County in 1952. He was employed at Todd Shipyards until he retired several years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Barrett) Champie; a daughter, Donna Kube of Seattle; two sons, John Champie of Seattle and Richard Champie of Yakima; siblings, James Champie and Florence Bender, both of Ellensburg, and Lois Mist of Auburn, Wash.; six grandchildren and five great-grandsons.

Inurnment will be at Thorp Cemetery with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by fellowship and remembrance at the Damman School, 41 Manastash Road.

Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Velma Eula Rae 'Dink' (Jones) Haley

Velma Eula Rae "Dink" (Jones) Haley, 78, of Electric City, Wash., died Saturday at Lake Ridge Special Care Center.

She was born in Springfield, Mo. She moved to Yakima at age 12 and later lived in Grand Coulee, Wash. She lived the last 10 years in Moses Lake.

Survivors include eight children, Sue Peters, Joy Bise, Debra Mathison, all of Grand Coulee, Robin Green of Houston, Texas, Tamla Brothers of Graham, Wash., Marlene Haley of Moses Lake, Edwin Haley of Plymouth, Wash., and Clark Haley of Longview, Wash.; a brother, Cory Jones of Eugene, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m., both at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee.

Kayser's Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Betty Ruth (Robinson) Graden

Betty Ruth (Robinson) Graden, 80, of Lacey, Wash., died Sept. 29.

She was born in Yale, Okla. She grew up in Bellefonte, Ark., and later lived in Payette, Idaho. She moved to Prosser in 1968, where she was the office manager at Hall Chevrolet until her retirement in 1986. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Lyla and Mike Aldrich, in Yakima and recently in Lacey.

Survivors include a daughter, Lyla Aldrich of Lacey; a son, Tim Graden of Tumwater, Wash.; two sisters, Marylou Chadsey of San Jose, Calif., and Jo Ellen Lamb of Caldwell, Idaho; and one grandson.

Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday at East Prosser Cemetery.

Funeral Alternatives of Washington Inc. is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

 

Merle W. Gilmour

Merle W. Gilmour, 69, of Ellensburg died Sunday at his home.

He was born and raised in Ellensburg. He worked in the Gilmour family grocery stores and later owned and operated Mr. G's on University Way until retirement a few years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Marylou Gilmour of Ellensburg; two sons, Ray Gilmour of Ellensburg and Robbe Gilmour of Sand Point, Alaska; a brother, Gary Gilmour of Ellensburg; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Wednesday at Affordable Funeral Care in Ellensburg. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 840 Cowboy Lane, off Vantage Highway, preceded by burial at High Valley Cemetery with services at graveside for family members.

 

Lloyd W. 'Tuffy' Sutton

Lloyd W. "Tuffy" Sutton, 75, of Ellensburg died Saturday at his home.

He was born on the Spokane Reservation at Miles, Wash. He moved to the Kittitas Valley in the 1960s, worked in the logging industry and raised paint horses.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger (Parsons) Sutton of Ellensburg; three sons, Darryl Sutton of Keller, Wash., Gary Sutton of Jourdanton, Texas, and Anthony Sutton of Ellensburg; three daughters, Diane Mellon of Keller, and Sheryl Sutton and Janice Sutton, both of Ellensburg.

A celebration of life is at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Quality Inn, 1700 Canyon Road, Ellensburg.

Maydeene A. Gohl

Maydeene A. Gohl, 87, of Yakima died Saturday.

She was born in Yakima.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer J. Gohl; a daughter, Jeanie Gardner; a stepdaughter, Tena Hilderband of Spokane; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Dorothy Maxine Fuss

Dorothy Maxine Fuss, 81, of Naches died Sunday at home.

She was born in Sagle, Idaho. She moved to the Nile Creek area as a young girl and to Naches in 1939. She also lived in Missouri and Alaska. She worked as an licensed practical nurse for 30 years before retirement.

Survivors include daughters, Helen Leslie of Cowiche, Susan Schauer of Yakima, Carol Harris of Hermiston, Ore., Penelope Fuss Johnson of Portland and Pamela Warnock of Auburn, Wash.; a son, Jeffrey Powell of Glenoma, Wash.; two sisters, Ethel Freeman of Roseburg, Ore., and June Allan Alexander of Klamath Falls, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with final committal at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

 

Lowell E. Evans

Lowell E. Evans, 85, of Toppenish died Saturday in Yakima.

He was born, raised and educated in Toppenish. He served in the Army and later worked at U&I Sugar Company in Toppenish for 34 years, retiring as the general supervisor when the plant closed in 1980.

Survivors include his sons, Gordon Evans of Yakima and Brian Evans of Sunnyside; and one grandson.

Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Toppenish United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish.

 

Patricia Katherine Mason Wilson

Patricia Katherine Mason Wilson, 66, of Yakima died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Naches. She lived in the Seattle area and the Yakima Valley for 24 years. She worked as an administrative secretary. She served two years in the Navy Reserve.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick Wilson of Yakima; a daughter, Molly Brunner of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mary Ann Myers of Yakima; a brother, George M. Mason of Edmonds, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Yakima.
