GRANDVIEW -- Backers of a proposed levy to fund ambulance services in the Lower Valley will hold a town hall meeting to make their case tonight.
Prosser Memorial Hospital operates an ambulance service that covers Grandview, Mabton and the unincorporated portions of Yakima County surrounding those towns.
The public hospital is asking voters in those areas to approve a four-year levy to keep ambulance response times steady.
Called Proposition 1 on the Nov. 4 general ballot, the levy would boost property taxes 25 cents for every $1,000 of assessed valuation. That's $25 per year for a $100,000 home.
It requires 60-percent approval.
Hospital administrators will discuss the measure at 6 p.m. tonight at the Grandview Nazarene Church, 500 N. Elm St.
For more information, call the hospital public relations office at (509) 786-6601.
