YAKIMA — A 25-year-old Brownstown man who burned his family’s house to the ground last year and then tried to do it again in February has been found insane.
Pedro C. Sanchez was committed to Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake for up to 10 years as the result of a plea deal reached Friday between Yakima County prosecutors and his attorney.
Sanchez’s arson history began on March 22, 2007, when he burned down his family’s double-wide modular home at 251 Brownstown Road.
Despite evidence of mental problems, he was found competent to stand trial and served 196 days in jail.
