A popular Mexican restaurant in Yakima is opening its second location in the next few days.
Owners of El Mirador were working Tuesday to open the new location at 1601 E. Yakima Ave. by today, but it could be Thursday before the restaurant opens, said Abraham Brambila, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Cecelia.
The Brambila family has owned the first El Mirador restaurant at 418 W. Walnut St. since 1996, when it was Taqueria Jolasco. The name was changed to El Mirador four years later.
The new location, just east of Interstate 82, has 20 employees. The same menu will be offered at both locations.
The new location will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. But Brambila said the restaurant will open later as demand allows.
