YAKIMA -- National Weather Service forecasters say there’s a 50 percent chance of rain in Yakima before 10 p.m. followed by a chance of snow.
Snow levels are estimated at 4,000 feet, possibly lowering to 3,000. But little snow accumulation is expected. It will be cloudy tonight, then gradually becoming partly cloudy with a low around 33.
White Pass will see evening rain or snow with a possible accumulation of 3 to 6 inches. East winds in the pass will be 5 to 15 miles per hour, increasing to 20 after midnight.
The White Pass Ski Resort is reporting 1 inch of new snow as of Thursday with another inch at the base and 6 inches at the summit.
It’s a different story at Stevens Pass, where there are already a couple of inches of snow with more expected to fall this afternoon and tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory encompassing the pass and west slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Four to 7 inches of accumulation is predicted at higher elevations with 1 to 3 inches expected at the 3,000-foot level.
